This little corner of Kwa-Zulu Natal offers visitors more attractions than they would imagination. When fishing, bird watching and day trips to beautiful beaches lose their attraction, then a trip to the Tembe Elephant Reserve is well worth the 45 minute drive. Tembe Elephant Reserve is a Big 5 Park and home to lion, elephant, rhino and many other game species.
Plan a trip to Ponto do Ouro, just over the Mozambique border. At Ponta do Oura you can surf, scuba dive
and snorkel and when your morning of beach and sea activities is over, lunch at one of the many restaurants is a must. Relax with a glass of “vino” and a plate of prawns before returning to your own small piece of paradise at the Kosi Bay House.
Kosi Bay is part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Most of the surrounding beaches lie within the Park so day permits must be purchased. In high season it is advisable to purchase your permits early in the morning as there are a limited number of permits available each day. Most roads are dirt only and only accessible by 4X4. All these factors have helped to keep Kosi Bay and its environs one of South Africa most unspoilt areas.
